In 1876 Achille Savinelli opened in the Italian city of Milan one of the first shops focused exclusively on tobacco and smoking accessories. At that time the manufacture of pipes focused mainly on clay and meerschaum but Savinelli's focused on briar, a material with which he soon began to design his own catalogue of pipes manufactured by local artisans. 60 years later, in 1948 Achille Savinelli Jr., the brand founder´s grandson, together with his two best friends, Amleto Pomé and Mario Vettoruzzo, assembled a team of fifteen employees to start making pipes. The brand's "Late Motiv" was to place the manufacture of Italian pipes prominently on the international scene dominated at the time by British and French artisans. A year later, Savinelli occupied an important space in the storefronts of the best tobacco companies around the world. Today, Savinelli is probably the first name coming to mind when we think about the serially produced Italian pipe. Today's executive management has redefined the brand and helped to renew and adapt marketing to compete in the digital age. Along with the implementation of some practices that improve quality control and production in general, which is only possible when all production processes run under the same roof. All this together with a careful menu of shapes and finishes that cover all kinds of demands and sensitivities place Savinelli among the most prestigious and broadcast pipe producers worldwide.
