Demüa — Exclusive designs by Gheppo

Demüa is a line of Italian pipes born from the criterion of Danilo Zunino, known in the pipe world as Gheppo. Artisan and briar cutter in Liguria, Gheppo has earned his own place within the sector not only for his artisan pipes, but also for his deep knowledge of briar: selection, curing, cutting and reading of briar from the origin.

Trained alongside Domenico “Mimmo” Romeo, one of the important names in briar work in Italy, Gheppo developed a very direct understanding of the raw material. After the pandemic, he established himself in his own workshop in Imperia, where he combines his activity as a briar cutter with a limited production of his own pipes.

Demüa starts from exclusive designs by Gheppo and uses briar cured, selected and cut by him. The essential difference of this line is in its final phase: each piece is artisanally finished, adjusted and controlled in Gheppo’s workshop, which provides a superior level of finish, precision and care.

The Demüa collection offers a more accessible way to approach Gheppo’s universe, maintaining a direct relationship with his craft: good materials, own design, formal balance and artisanal finish.

In Genoese dialect, demûa refers to the idea of entertaining oneself, relaxing or enjoying time calmly. A very suitable name for a pipe conceived as an everyday companion, comfortable and honest, but with the mark of an artisan who knows briar from the saw to the smoke.
