Miscia by Demüa — The modular pipe designed by Gheppo

Miscia by Demüa is a fresh, modern and contemporary project developed from exclusive designs by Gheppo, the name by which Danilo Zunino is recognised within the world of the Italian pipe.

The starting point is Gheppo’s knowledge as an artisan and briar cutter. His experience alongside Mimmo Romeo, his later work in his workshop in Imperia and his activity as one of the best active sawmills in Italy give authority to a project that is not born as a simple mechanised pipe, but as an idea designed from real knowledge of the raw material.

Miscia proposes a modular concept formed by three independent elements: bowl, shank and stem. The pieces can be acquired as a complete set or separately, allowing the same bowl to be combined with different shanks, lengths, capacities, ornaments and stem colours.

Production is carried out by mechanisation, using small pieces of briar cured, selected and cut by Gheppo. The system allows quality blocks in smaller formats to be used and transformed into a versatile, customisable and different pipe.

One of Miscia’s most attractive features is the combination of materials: briar, wood, metal and carbon fibre in the shanks, together with different ornaments and top-quality acrylic stems. The result is a pipe with a current aesthetic, adaptable and with a very marked playful character.

Miscia by Demüa transfers Gheppo’s criterion to a more basic and accessible line, where the main value is in the design, modularity and the possibility of building an almost made-to-measure pipe through the combination of its elements. A different proposal within the Italian pipe: young, functional and open to personal play.
