 José Rubio has earned a well-deserved place among the artisans of the pipe world, where he is known for his deep and meticulous sandblasting in the line of pipes called Dragon's Scales, as well as for his logo.

José Rubio carves and smokes briar pipes. Over the past thirty years, hundreds of pipes from various artisans have passed through his hands, either for repair or for his own collection. With this experience, analyzing different techniques and materials, he strives to create the perfect pipe, although this may be an unattainable quest. He always seeks to improve and achieve the highest level of perfection.

All of his pipes are made from top-quality briar, and he has received unanimously positive feedback from his customers regarding the sweetness and temperature of the smoke. Depending on the cut, humidity, blend, different types of tobacco, and the individual smoker's technique, various results are achieved, which are intrinsic to this fascinating world of pipe smoking.

The vast majority of his pipes have what is called "ring grain" in English. This is achieved exclusively by sandblasting bowls that have straight grain. Anyone who thinks his pipes are sandblasted to hide any kind of defect is mistaken. All of his bowls come from the most flawless briar pieces possible, free of defects and perfectly suitable for smooth finishes.

The rings he uses are made of sterling silver. He does not skimp and always seeks the highest possible quality.
